Daniel Pompeo is a native New Yorker, who grew up in the Soho area surrounded by many artists. He is a graduate from Parsons School of Design as a Graphic Designer and attended Pratt Institute. Dan now resides in Manalapan, NJ. He has retired from his full-time position as a Creative Director for several different companies in NY and NJ. Since retirement, Dan has concentrated full-time on his unique hand-carvings and diverse painting styles on canvas. Majority of his wood work consists of hand-carved "Old World" Santas. On his off season he focuses on other hand-carved pieces such as ducks, roosters, antique cars, animal plaques and non-holiday related items, using bass and pine wood. In a world of mass-production, his pieces make a statement of individuality. Each item is created to take on its own unique personality. When not working with wood, Dan focuses on painting with works consisting of landscapes, still life, and abstract animal portraits and cars. He uses mixed media such as pastels, acrylics, and watercolors on canvas. He composes his pieces with the use of everyday objects, experiences, and sounds that are encountered throughout the day. Combining his artistic ability with these daily changing environments, inspires a vision for each piece. His art portrays the small things in life that some people may ignore, which he will then take and bring a canvas to life.Working as a full-time Creative Director with guidelines to follow, Dan felt somewhat restricted, with only after work hours to create freely. Now retired, he is free to explore and concentrate on different creative areas to incorporate into his work. This has allowed him to partake in many shows to exhibit the work he loves so much.
